Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ottawa
Acupuncture is a safe, natural, effective therapy where thin sterilized, single use and disposable needles are inserted into the skin. Acupuncture has been used for many illnesses both chronic and acute as well as for illnesses that are a result of a weakened immune system or an overstrained nervous system.
Acupuncture is rooted in ancient Chinese traditions and the theory is based on energetic pathways in the body called channels or meridians where qi and blood flow. The qi and blood are carried through the channels to protect, prevent, heal, and nourish the body, mind, spirit, and emotions.
Acupuncture works to restore the flow of qi and blood by removing the stagnation and by strengthening them to provide energy and nourishment to the tissues and organs restoring balance known as homeostasis.

Therapies Available at our Clinic
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a component of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body in order to stimulate our natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being. Our Acupuncturists can integrate many different modalities to your treatment such as acupressure, gentle hand techniques, and much more. Studies have shown that acupuncture is effective to help with a variety of conditions.
Cupping
Dry cupping is a method of relieving local pain or congestion by applying a partial vacuum created in a glass or silicone cup. It is an excellent treatment process for reducing pain and inflammation, improving blood flow and overall well-being as well as inducing relaxation. Cupping can help with the management of both acute and chronic conditions.
Other therapies offered during your session:
Electro-acupuncture
Electro-acupuncture uses two acupuncture needles, allowing a mild electric current to pass between the needles. This allows stimulation of the active acupuncture and motor points. This treatment is ideal for conditions such as arthritis, sports injuries, chronic pain management, and so much more.
Tui Na
Tui Na is a form of massage that originated in ancient China. Tui Na promotes the balance and harmony within the body while using the same principles of acupuncture. The Acupuncturist uses their hands instead of needles to apply pressure to stimulate specific points and meridians. Tui Na can be used in combination with acupuncture therapy.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is an ancient technique from Chinese medicine to help release tension and pain. Gua Sha can be used to reduce inflammation and improve circulation. The practitioner uses a hand held tool to press down onto the skin and creates a scraping movement on the different areas of the body.
