Reiki is a Japanese spiritual hands-on healing modality commonly known as energy healing. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words “REI” which means “Universal Life” and “KI” which means “Energy” It is a form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
It is believed that a person’s “KI” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this occurs, a person’s body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the energy is blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.
Reiki is a stress-reduction and relaxation technique that promotes wellbeing. It can also help reduce chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia. Its calming and meditative effects can be felt very quickly. A Reiki session can help facilitate physical, mental and emotional healing, while offering a relaxing experience that promotes wellness.

Reiki and Stress
The Reiki practitioner sends energy to a client by placing her hands gently on or above the body and guides the client through a brief meditation to help them relax. Over the course of the session, this energetic transfer works to remove blockages in the client’s body and promotes flow and balance of energy. It is not unusual for some clients to fall into deep relaxation – or even fall asleep. The result is the client leaves the session feeling renewed, stress free and restored to a balanced state.
Reiki and Chronic Pain
Most of the time, causes of chronic pain are physical. However, some pain is caused from deep rooted emotional and mental disturbances. The healing that comes from Reiki, does not just benefit the painful part of the body, it addresses the root cause and starts healing the chronic pain from there. Since Reiki promotes relaxation, it can help soften muscle tension when the body’s energy is not blocked by negative factors such as pain. Thus, the client can find more relief from their symptoms and recover faster.
Reiki Anxiety and Insomnia
Reiki can induce relaxation in a manner similar to yoga. It can release cortisol from the adrenal glands which calm the parasympathetic nervous system. This can be of benefit to clients who have some forms of anxiety and insomnia.
Our Reiki Sessions are held in a private treatment room in a peaceful setting with soft music. You will comfortably lie on a table, fully clothed. Aromatherapy may be used, depending on your preference. The Reiki practitioner places their hands lightly on or over different areas of the body for a few minutes at a time. This allows the energy transfer to take place.
