The Medical pedicure experience in ottawa
At Natural Skin & Sole Wellness Clinic, we offer medical pedicures in a safe and sterile environment by our team of Nurses. Traditional salons and spas have a basic approach to foot care and don’t treat medical concerns. Our medical pedicures offer a complete and holistic approach to your health and wellness as our feet are the foundation of our body. Our Foot Care Nurses are qualified in assessing, treating, and managing most lower-limb related concerns. We pride ourselves in also offering preventive care and our Nurses will be able to discuss your treatment plan with you to help you keep your feet strong and healthy!
Our medical pedicures can help with:
- Nail and foot hygiene
- Calluses / thick skin
- Corns
- Cracked heels
- Thick and painful toenails
- Damaged toenails
- Ingrown toenails (non-surgical treatments)
- Fungal toenail infections
- Plantar Warts
- Foot pains and discomforts
- Individuals who can’t reach their feet
- Individuals who require more care than basic salon services
- And so much more
What can I expect with my Nurse during my medical pedicure?
Every first appointment starts with an initial consultation which includes your first treatment. During this appointment, your Nurse will provide a full assessment of your feet and discuss any concerns you may have. She will then explain the treatment plan, and preventive strategies, and provide you with your first medical pedicure. We address toenails, clean the nail folds, thin and trim the toenails, and address ingrown toenails with non-invasive care. Calluses and corns are removed, and cracked heels are reduced. If the cracks are bleeding, we provide wound care management and offloading options to keep the skin healthy. We finish the treatment with moisturizing the lower limbs and feet, and a hot towel to add that extra luxury feeling to your appointment!
Please note that, unlike traditional nail salons, we do not soak the feet. Soaking the feet can increase the risk of skin injuries, and when the foot tub is not properly cleansed, this can highly increase the risk of infections such as bacteria, fungus and warts. We use a professional-grade skin softener for the feet and hot towels to cleanse the feet and soften the skin prior to treatment.
Why choose a medical-grade pedicure with our Registered Nurses?
Our Nurses have acquired additional certification in lower limb and foot health, beyond their nursing degrees and certifications. They value the importance of promoting healthy lower limbs, while reducing the risks of complications, infections, injuries, and pain to the feet. Our Nurses are regulated health care professionals and provide a holistic approach to well-being. Our Nurses are required by their college to keep their knowledge and skills up to date and provide evidence-based best practices. How do our Foot Care Nurses offer a quality care approach? They don’t just look at the feet. They look at the overall person. Because you matter.
We use high-quality medical equipment, and professional foot care tools that are safe to use on skin and nails. We take the matter of infection prevention and control very seriously and adhere to strict hygiene standards. Our treatment area is fully cleaned after each appointment with hospital grade surface disinfectants, all of our tools are fully reprocessed, packaged and sterilized in our Health Canada approved autoclave.
Our medical pedicures are not just a matter of aesthetics. Properly trimmed toenails and maintaining proper foot hygiene is an essential part of your overall wellness. Our Nurses are qualified to offer comprehensive treatments that are catered to your foot health needs and goals. To learn more about our medical pedicures, call our clinic today at 613-761-6060.
