What can I expect during a treatment session?
You will receive a consultation with our Medical Aesthetic Team to discuss about your skin care goals. After the consultation, you will receive an “patch test”: we use the pulse-light at 3 different levels (low-medium-high) to evaluate how your skin reacts. Why? We want to ensure that you receive the right and safe setting for your skin, but we also want you to achieve results faster (and safer). Once we determined the right parameters for your skin type, your skin is cleansed, and a gel is applied to the treatment area. After eye shields are placed for protection, the skin is then treated with gentle pulses of light in combination with our cooling system.
IPL treatments are a great non-invasive way to improve your skin tone and complexion. You will notice visible results that keep on improving with time. IPL can undo some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure (photoaging) which can cause premature aging. There is little to no downtime associated IPL treatments and most patients will be able to resume normal activity within the same day. Some patients may experience mild redness and swelling for 1-2 days. Targeted spots may appear darker immediately after treatment; these will flake or peel off a few days post-treatment. However, your skin will have an increased sensitivity to the sun, so be sure to use additional sun protection (SPF) on your skin. Our Medical Aesthetician will provide you with your post care recommendations.
